Cooking Instructions

For best results, fully defrost and cook from chilled. The following instructions are guidelines only. Please ensure product is thoroughly cooked through before serving.

Slow Cook:

  • Pre-heat oil in a pan and the oven on a medium heat (180°C / Gas Mark 5).
  • Remove product from packaging.
  • Fry the meat in a frying pan until browned on all sides.
  • Place in a casserole dish and cook in the oven for up to 2 hours.

Traditional Diced Beef Casserole: Prepare the beef: Season diced beef with salt and pepper, then lightly coat in flour. Heat oil in a large heavy-bottomed casserole dish over medium-high heat. Brown the beef in batches, ensuring a nice crust, then remove and set aside.

Cook the vegetables: In the same pot, sauté onion, garlic, carrot, and celery for 5–6 min until softened. Stir in tomato paste and cook 1–2 min to deepen the flavor.

Build the casserole: Return beef to the pot. Add diced tomatoes, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, rosemary, and bay leaves. Bring to a gentle simmer.

Cook slowly: Cover and cook on low heat for 1.5–2 hours (or in a preheated oven at 160°C / 325°F for 2 hours), stirring occasionally, until beef is tender.

Finish: Remove bay leaves. Stir in frozen peas (if using) and cook 5 min more. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

Serve: Serve hot with mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or buttered noodles.
