Cooking Instructions

For best results, fully defrost and cook from chilled. The following instructions are guidelines only. Please ensure product is thoroughly cooked through before serving.

Shallow Fry:

  • Pre-heat oil in a pan on a medium heat.
  • Remove the product from the packaging.
  • Place in the pan and cook for 8-10 minutes (approx).
  • Mix frequently throughout cooking until browned all over.

Keep frozen at -18°C. Use by date indicated on the pack. Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and consume within 2 days.

Make the Meat Sauce: Heat olive oil in a large pan. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery; cook until softened (5 min). Add beef mince and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, tomatoes, stock (or wine), herbs, and bay leaf. Simmer uncovered for 25–30 min until thickened. Remove bay leaf.

Make the Béchamel Sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 min. Gradually whisk in warm milk, stirring until smooth and thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in Parmesan or cheddar.

Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Add a layer of lasagna sheets, then a layer of béchamel, then meat sauce again. Repeat layers, finishing with béchamel on top. Sprinkle mozzarella and extra cheese on top.

Bake: Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until bubbling and golden brown. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving — this helps it set and slice neatly.

  • Use whole milk for a silky béchamel.
  • Let it rest before slicing for perfect layers.
